POINT SOURCE iFLEX MUSTANG ADJUSTABLE SOLID-STATE LASER GIVES OFF THE SHELF FLEXIBILITY

• Booth 113 Photonics Europe April 7-11th 2008

Click for hi-res imagePoint Source, a member of the Qioptiq Group, is pleased to announce the European debut of a new solid-state laser unit at booth number: 113 at Photonics Europe 2008. The iFLEX-Mustang is a fiber-coupled solid-state laser with on-board modulation, which allows designers to quickly build small and even more reliable instruments and experiments.

Using single-mode and polarization preserving fiber, the iFLEX-Mustang delivers 25mW of power with a polarization extinction ratio of greater than 100:1. With an operating wavelength of 488 or 561nm and output power (from the fiber) of 25mW, the Mustang is ideal for use in biomedical instrumentation including confocal microscopes, flow cytometers and DNA sequencers and is also suitable for demanding specialised semi-conductor metrology.

The iFLEX-Mustang units’ power can be modulated at up to 2MHz with a rise and fall time of 150ns and 30dB dynamic range. It is stable to better than 2% over four hours and has noise of less than 0.3% over the frequency range 20Hz to 2MHz. The flexible design includes a detachable fiber, making installation and field servicing simple.

David Pointer, Managing Director of Point Source said: “The Mustang product has been developed as a direct result of customer feedback. It is a flexible solution for customers who want an off-the-shelf solid -state laser solution for their instruments and experiments.”

Also on show at the Point Source booth at the exhibition are: the iFLEX Q3 compact laser diode system for precision optical instrumentation in the biotechnology and semiconductor sectors; and the iFLEX2000™ fiber-coupled lasers, which delivers 20mW at 445nm with a TEM00 true Gaussian beam.
