Multi-laser engine to be demonstrated at Cell
Biology
December
1, 2007 Hamble, UK: Point Source will be showing the latest version of its
new laser engine technology, iFLEX-Viper™ at Cell Biology 2007.
iFLEX-Viper™ is the world’s first high-quality, ready-to-go
multi-laser engine, and a major breakthrough for OEMs working in the biotech
sector, particularly confocal laser scanning microscopy, flow cytrometry,
high throughput screening and DNA sequencing.
Launched earlier this year, iFLEX-Viper™ has been upgraded to include
an integral power supply with USB interface and a choice of high power ratings
up to 70mW per channel. The single ‘black box’ solution can
be used with a wide range of instrumentation, removing the requirement for
long development cycles for bespoke laser optical systems. As a result,
OEMs will be able to get new products to market much more quickly that in
the past, for significant competitive advantage.
iFLEX-Viper™ incorporates up to six laser wavelengths, covering the
entire visible spectrum range from 405 to 640nm. It includes a mix-and-match
choice of diode and DPSS laser types, full modulation capability on each
line, exception power stability and low optical noise (0.25%rms).
Booth 1418 at Cell Biology will feature a demonstration of a five line iFLEX-Viper™
multi-laser engine with 405, 445, 488, 561 and 640nm lasers. Visitors will
be able to see how the single-mode, fiber optic, laser delivery means smaller,
neater instrument designs because of the flexibility it allows in routing
of the laser beam. It also reduces beam-pointing instability, and protects
the instrument from the heat and vibration caused by gas lasers.
iFLEX-Viper™ is supplied in a robust enclosure measuring 455 x 355
x 84mm with a three metre fiber cable. The fiber output can be specified
from a range of standard footprints with circular, elliptical and flat-top
beam options.
