Penny + Giles’ sensor range gains FIA homologation for 2008 Formula 1 ECU
Penny
+ Giles has announced that its linear position sensors (four and five-wire
LVDTs) and rotary position sensors (conductive plastic potentiometers) have
been homologated by the FIA and approved for use with the Formula 1 standard
electronics control unit (ECU). The 2008 Formula 1 championship will see
a revolution in the area of electronics as FIA technical regulations now
require a standard ECU for all teams. From 2008 the ECU can only be used
with FIA approved software and can only be connected to the control system
wiring loom, sensors and actuators as specified and homologated by the FIA.
Penny + Giles offers a comprehensive and capable range of position sensors
and displacement transducers and has become a benchmark standard in motorsport,
assisting every world championship winning team in Formula 1 since 1986.
