Hall 13, Stand no. 13F32
Agritechnica 2007, Hanover, Germany
13 – 17 November 2007
New joystick options for ‘put and stay’ operation
Penny
+ Giles will be exhibiting its new single axis friction-hold version of
its popular, robust multi-axis joystick JC6000 at Agritechnica 2007, Hall
13, Stand 13F32. A prototype of the company’s new ICT050, in-cylinder
linear displacement transducer for small bore mobile and static hydro-pneumatic
actuators will also be on display.
The new joystick option is aimed at manufacturers of construction equipment
and other off-road vehicles that need high manoeuvrability control such
as earth compactors and asphalt rollers. The key feature is that the lever
does not return to centre when it is released. It is designed for use in
applications where the output is used to control the speed and forward/reverse
direction of the machine. The operator can set the speed of movement and
then focus on the steering of the vehicle to achieve optimum compaction
of the surface it is travelling over, for example, asphalt or soil.
JC6000 is favoured in the off-road market for its compact size, strength,
reliability, and handle functionality. It is available with one or two axis
configurations and can be supplied with non-contact Hall effect sensors
or long-life potentiometer tracks. It is sealed (above the panel) to IP66.
JC6000 ensures high operational safety standards. Dual outputs are fitted
as standard, allowing the signals to be monitored and compared for failure
detection in safety critical applications and additional independent switch
functions can be specified for directional and center position indication
- vital for vehicle system start-up safety.
The ICT050 linear transducer provides reliable, fit-and-forget position
sensing of the cylinder rod in actuators with strokes up to 500mm. It is
a robust, non-contact transducer that works on an inductive coil principle,
with virtually infinite resolution and is capable of withstanding temperatures
up to 200°C and working pressures up to 500Bar.
Penny + Giles’ experienced team will also be on hand to discuss the
company’s specialist capability to design and manufacture application
specific valve spool position sensors for feedback in electro-hydraulic
control systems. Using the latest technologies and moulding techniques it
can produce a fully integrated, pressure sealed non-contact position sensors
that do not require any additional electronic control cards or separate
enclosures, thus saving considerable costs for the whole control valve.
Penny + Giles has specialist capability in both joysticks and motion control
sensors, and is uniquely placed to provide advanced control options for
the off-highway vehicle market. For more information and a demonstration
of the products visit Hall 13, Stand 13F32, Agritechnica 2007.
