New metal housing option for electronics module
Penny + Giles has launched a new metal enclosure option for its electronics module, EICT-M. The module, which performs the signal conditioning for the company’s popular in-cylinder (ICT) and sealed linear transducers (SLT), is now available with a rugged die-cast aluminium alloy housing, suitable for harsh environmental conditions and electrically noisy applications.
It was developed in response to customer demand and allows OEMs to install the electronics module in a variety of industrial vehicle, marine and control applications.
EICT-M features an impressive environmental performance, with dust and fluid protection to IP68 and submersion to 2m, with EMC immunity to 100V/m. The module can be located up to 10m away from the linear transducer, allowing the effects of extreme shock and vibration to be isolated from the electronics.
EICT-M provides a standard output voltage signal of 0.5Vdc to 4.5Vdc that can be configured to match the linear transducer stroke, from a 10-60 Vdc unregulated supply.
Additional ‘plug-in’ cards can be supplied to extend the range of analogue voltage outputs and also provide a 4-20mA current output for signal transmission over long distances.
For digital output, the EICT-M electronics is used in conjunction with the Penny + Giles pulse width modulation (PWM) output option card. It provides a TTL-level compatible signal which has a 10-90% duty cycle proportional to the transducer displacement.
The EICT-M is designed for bulkhead mounting via four M5 fixing holes under the lid and the enclosure is protected with a blue powder-coated durable paint finish.
