New in-cylinder transducer offers reliable position sensing
Penny
+ Giles has launched a new in-cylinder linear displacement transducer for
small bore mobile and static hydro-pneumatic actuators. The ICT050 provides
reliable, fit-and-forget position sensing of the cylinder rod in actuators
with strokes up to 500mm. It is a robust, non-contact transducer that works
on an inductive coil principle, with virtually infinite resolution and is
capable of withstanding temperatures up to 200°C and working pressures
up to 500Bar.
The new transducer is aimed primarily at the off-highway (construction,
agriculture) and utility vehicle market. Its robust construction is ideal
for the harsh conditions of lifting and steering position applications and
hydro-pneumatic active suspension systems.
ICT050 has a very efficient body-to-stroke ratio. The overall length is
only slightly longer than the working stroke length, facilitating a much
more compact installation than can be effected with traditional linear transducer
designs. The stroke range covers 25mm to 500mm stroke actuators and the
transducer body diameter is just 5.4mm, allowing it to be used in smaller
diameter actuators.
The transducer core can be supplied in sleeved, threaded or force-fit variants,
with a wide choice of transducer mounting flanges, including SAE1926/2 and
ISO6149/2 compatible thread forms.
All configurations are available on rapid delivery, and can be supplied
within a few days of ordering. ICT050 is an addition to the company’s
existing range of in-cylinder transducers that includes the popular ICT080
and ICT100 for stroke lengths of up to 2,000mm.
