Morgan Technical Ceramics hosts discussions between local business and Shadow Cabinet MP
On
Friday 10th October Morgan Technical Ceramics (MTC) hosted a meeting between
Alan Duncan, the Shadow Secretary of State for Business Enterprise &
Regulatory Reform (BERR), and Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber
of Commerce members at its Stourport-upon-Severn manufacturing site.
The event included a group of over 30 local business owners, giving them
the opportunity to discuss regional enterprise opportunities and challenges.
Alan Duncan also shared details of how BERR operates and his party's proposals
for change.
Mark Moore, Director of Strategy Implementation, Morgan Technical Ceramics,
said, "At this time of significant turmoil in the global economy, we
are delighted to host this meeting at a successful UK manufacturing facility
that is itself going through significant and positive change. We hope that
politicians will work together with industry to enable the UK to be an increasingly
attractive and competitive place to do business."
The Stourport site is one of six MTC manufacturing facilities in the UK
which produce state-of-the-art materials and ceramic components for industries
including medical, aerospace, telecommunications, electronics, defence,
semiconductor processing, industrial equipment and lasers. The Stourport
site employs more than 280 people in a range of skilled engineering, production,
sales, research and administrative roles.
"The Morgan Technical Ceramics business has been part of the local
community in Stourport since 1929. We have had excellent cooperation with
local stakeholders to achieve sustained and sustainable business development.
We recently renewed a long-term multi-million pound contract with a key
customer and our ongoing success at this site reaffirms our commitment to
the area," said Mark.
