New Tuff-Rod™ fishing poles improve the flexibility and performance of electrical and data line installation
Ideal
Industries, global manufacturers and suppliers of quality
installation tools and test products for the electrical and
data communications markets, announces the introduction of
the Tuff-Rod fishing pole kits. Tuff-rod fishing poles simplify
the installation of electrical and data cables in walls, roof
voids, raised floors and suspended ceilings and are ideal
for pulling wire where thermal insulation is already installed.
Tuff-Rod features non-conductive, highly flexible connectable fibreglass rods in five and six millimetre diameters. There are three kits to choose from, with total lengths of 3.6m/12ft (made up of three 1.2m/4ft rods), 7.3m/ 24ft (four 1.8 m/6ft rods) and 9.1 metres/30ft (five 1.8m/6ft rods). Tuff-Rod comes in a selection of colours including white, blue and pale green “glow in the dark” – ideal for installations where poor light is a problem.
Using the fishing pole is a simple process of attaching the cable to the end of the Tuff-Rod and using the rod to guide the cable to the desired run destination. Once the cable is secured the fibreglass rod can be gently removed and the installation finished off. The fishing poles can be used with different cable and wire types, including speaker and telephone wire, twisted pair data cables, fibre, thermostat, coax and general electrical cables.
For true ease of use, Tuff-Rod is available with three attachment ends (J Hook, Bullet tip and Wisp), which provide maximum flexibility for the application environment and materials used. The J Hook attachment aids in re-positioning wires and re-directing cables. The Bullet tip is ideal for pushing the rods through wall cavities, under floorboards and similar tight spaces, whilst the Wisp (whisk style) head is for working over the top of suspended ceilings. The large head allows the rod to be pushed over the ridges of the suspended ceilings grid work without it getting stuck.
“Tuff-Rod fishing pole kits are the latest addition to Ideal’s comprehensive range of functional, durable and reliable electrical and data communications product line”, comments Tony Kumeta, Business Manager, Ideal Industries. “Whether you are running wire in partition walls or pulling over long distances in a suspended ceiling the tool improves significantly the installation efficiency and productivity of any in-wall wiring project. Because Tuff-Rod is more rigid than fish tape, it's extraordinarily easy to use in simple conduit runs.”
Tuff-Rod repair kits are also available, complete with replacement hardware and quick-drying epoxy for fast, convenient, in-the-field repairs. For further information contact Ideal on 01925 444 446 or visit www.idealindustries.co.uk
