Fordway wins prestigious 'data centre solution of the year' award
30 October 2008 - ICT infrastructure specialist Fordway has
won the 'Data Centre Solution of the Year' award at the 2008 Channel Network
Awards in London. This award, which recognises excellence across the entire
UK reseller and integrator community, was given for the company's deployment
of a virtualised server and storage platform with integrated disaster recovery
solution for gm2 Logistics, a warehousing and logistics firm specializing
in paper distribution.
This is Fordway's second award in recent months, following a win in the
Data and Information Management category of the IT Europa 2008 European
IT Excellence Awards.
By combining a Compellent SAN and VMware platform and providing the client
with Fordway's integration and process expertise, Fordway has enabled gm2
to improve system performance, reliability and resilience, at the same time
as lowering the number of drives and servers required, decreasing gm2's
data centre footprint by a third. To ensure continuous operation Fordway
now provide 24 x 7 monitoring and remote support of the new environment.
The implementation also reduced power consumption and related carbon emissions,
creating a greener storage environment while reducing annual server management
costs.
"We're delighted to have won this prestigious award," comments
Richard Blanford, Managing Director, Fordway. "The project with gm2
is a great example of where we have developed a best-of-breed solution that
aligns directly with our customer's business needs and, most importantly,
delivers clear and measurable benefits."
Andy Hardy, Managing Director of International Sales at Compellent, adds:
"Compellent is dedicated to providing its partners with highly efficient
data storage solutions that enable customers to save time and money, while
reducing their carbon footprint. Compellent's powerful solution, which includes
automated tiered storage, thin provisioning and virtualisation, provides
an efficient and resourceful SAN."
Now in their 7th year, the Channel Network Awards reward excellence in the
ICT and Communications Channels. The 'Data Centre Solution of the Year'
is one of 17 awards and was judged by an independent panel of experts.
