£100,000 of bespoke IT for small business competition winner
High-growth small businesses can win £100, 000 of IT development for their company through a competition launched today by Compsoft plc. Pitch for IT is aimed at growing organisations which have a unique business idea for taking their company further but need suitable technology. The competition will culminate in a pitch by shortlisted applicants in front of a panel of expert judges.
Compsoft specialises in working with companies who have reached a crucial stage in their development where growth is hindered by restrictive technology. Pitch for IT is designed to solve this problem for one ambitious company which can prove it has a strong idea or compelling reason for needing £100,000 of bespoke software. In return, it should be prepared to offer some equity or a share of profits.
The application process starts with a simple entry form, where applicants outline details of their company and their reasons for entry: this process closes on December 22nd. A shortlist of up to six will be invited to London in February 2007 to pitch their entry in front of a panel of judges. All details of the competition can be found on www.pitchforit.net
The Pitch for IT panel of judges comprises entrepreneurs and experts with in-depth knowledge of successful high-growth businesses. In addition to Phil Lenton, Managing Director of Compsoft, they comprise Anthony Clarke, Chairman of the British Business Angels Association; Stephen Holmes, CEO of Mirago (regularly placed in the top 20 of the Sunday Times TechTrack index of fast-growing private technology companies); Steve Howell, CEO of Freshwater, the UK’s fastest growing PR network; Ian Wallis, Editor of Growing Business; and David Lester, Managing Director of Crimson Business.
Phil Lenton of Compsoft has clear ideas on the sort of company the panel will be looking for: “The winner will be a privately-owned company with ambitious plans and a demonstrable sales track record. Size doesn’t matter: it could have five or 100 employees. What’s important is that it’s a unique business which will benefit from a bespoke software solution which can support those ambitious plans.”
Pitch for IT has been launched in association with Growing Business magazine and full details can be found in the October issue.
