Turbo pumps awarded CSA/UL approvals for OEM market
CRAWLEY,
UK (6th February 2007) - BOC Edwards has been approved by the Canadian Safety
Association (CSA) as having met the applicable CSA and ANSI/UL (American
National Standards Institute/Underwriters Laboratories) safety standards
for its EXT turbomolecular vacuum pumps. It is one of the first suppliers
in the market to take this step, in direct response to customer demand from
OEMs.
Equipment manufacturers in the global market who require CSA and ANSI/UL
safety approvals have to demonstrate that the component parts of the system
meet the required safety standard. By opting for a vacuum pump that is already
approved, the OEM can save significant time and resources.
The approval covers BOC Edwards’ EXT70, EXT70H, EXT75DX, EXT255H,
EXT255DX and EXTPX turbo pumps, all split-flow turbo pumps and all EXDC
controllers. The pumps feature a good ultimate vacuum and tolerance to high
backing pressures, and their reliability makes them suitable for most scientific
applications.
The approvals have been issued by the CSA as part of the National Registered
Testing Laboratory scheme and are the equivalent of the laboratory safety
standard EN61010 in Europe. Further information on the relevant file LR
105042 can be found on the CSA website www.csa-international.org.
