The largest high flow oil-free scroll vacuum pump yet
CRAWLEY,
UK (15 May 2006) BOC Edwards has added to its highly successful
XDS range of dry vacuum scroll pumps with the launch of its
largest pump yet. Ideal for mass spectrometer and high energy
physics applications, XDS 35i offers robust, clean, dry, very
low maintenance pumping up to 35m3/hr.
The pump's patented ‘dry’ pumping system has no
bearings or lubrication products in the vacuum environment,
eliminating the risk of contamination and removing the usual
vacuum pump oil change requirement. Also the unique scroll
design has created a compact footprint with maximum pumping
speed; a 20% increase over previous BOC Edwards models.
Inverter driven from a single phase supply, with a very quiet
‘pancake’ motor, XDS 35i is a good choice for
large instrument applications, giving constant pumping performance
anywhere in the world. One simple switch changes voltage selection
from high to low, 100 to 120 V 50/60Hz and 200 to 230V 50/60Hz,
giving easy access to a world-wide dry pumping solution.
Designed for optimum performance, the XDS 35i offers an ultimate
vacuum of <0.01mb. An 80-litre chamber can be pumped from
atmosphere down to this pressure in just two minutes.
Controllable gas ballast is standard and makes the XDS 35i
suitable for pumping vapours, even small quantities of condensed
liquid are easily handled without problems.
The XDS 35i is truly user serviceable; with no oil to change
or dispose of, typically annual maintenance can be completed
in about 20 minutes without special tools.
XDS 35i is compatible with the BOC Edwards combined Turbo
and Instrument Controller (TIC). TIC provides control and
management of a complete vacuum system from a single compact
unit and incorporates a range of advanced management features
with easy-to-use Windows software for remote control via a
PC.

Neue trockenlaufende Vakuumpumpe mit 35 m3/h Saugvermögen erzielt völlig kontaminationsfreie Vakua

UK (15 Mai 2006) Mit der XDS35i hat BOC Edwards die XDS-Baureihe
trockenverdichtender Scroll-Pumpen um ein Modell mit 35 m3/h
Saugvermögen ergänzt. Wie die kleineren Modelle
mit 5 bzw. 10 m3/h Saugvermögen erzielt die neue XDS35i
ein völlig kontaminationsfreies Vakuum. Erreicht wird
dies durch das patentierte Lagerschild, das den Vakuumbereich
hermetisch von den Lagern trennt. Das Vakuum kommt so nie
in Kontakt mit Fett oder Öl, und eine Lagerspülung
ist nicht erforderlich.
Serienmäßig mit einstellbarem Gasballast ausgerüstet,
können XDS-Pumpen große Mengen kondensierbare Dämpfe
pumpen. Sogar kleine Mengen kondensierter Flüssigkeit
verträgt die XDS35i problemlos. Leiser, vibrations-armer
Lauf und kompakte Bauweise machen die Pumpen ideal für
den Einsatz im Labor sowie zum Einbau in Anlagen und Geräte.
Typischerweise wird die XDS35i als Vorpumpe für Turbomolekularpumpen,
bei Grobvakuum-kammern, zum Abpumpen von Schleusensystemen,
in Gasrückgewinnungs- und Gasreinigungssystemen, Rasterelektronenmikroskopen
sowie in der Oberflächenanalyse eingesetzt.
Die Pumpe wird von einem Ein-Phasen-Motor mit integriertem
Inverter ange-trieben, um die Motordrehzahl konstant zu halten
und so weltweit bei 50 oder 60 Hz das volle Saugvermögen
von 35 m3/h zu erreichen. Für die XDS35i wird ein Endvakuum
von 0,01 mbar spezifiziert. Die Leistungsaufnahme ist sehr
gering, weitere Betriebsmittel sind nicht erforderlich.
Wartungsarbeiten können vom Anwender selbst problemlos
durchgeführt werden, sogar ohne Spezialwerkzeuge. Die
jährliche Wartung wird in ca. 20 Minuten erledigt. Da
kein Ölwechsel erforderlich ist und somit auch kein Altöl
entsorgt werden muss, stellen XDS-Pumpen eine umweltfreundliche
Technologie dar.
