New Managing Director at Boots Centre for Innovation
30
March 2009 - Boots Centre for Innovation in Swansea has appointed Ron Petersen
as its new Managing Director.
Ron Petersen has been involved in the Boots Centre for Innovation since its inception in 2007, and has played an instrumental role in shaping the organisation's business model. He has provided valuable advice on how to progress ideas received by the Centre, and is well-positioned to lead the Centre forward in 2009.
In addition to his responsibilities with Boots Centre for
Innovation, Ron is also co-founder of Longbow Capital LLP, which is the
venture capitalist partner of the Centre.
Earlier in his career, Ron spent over 20 years with Armstrong World Industries,
managing global businesses. In 1992, he began to specialise in turning underperforming,
or early stage companies, into profitable and valued concerns. Ron has also
been directly involved in the founding of a number of 'high-tech' companies,
particularly in the nanotechnology field.
Boots Centre for Innovation, which was set up in 2007 to identify and facilitate the development of pioneering health and beauty products, has already seen three products launched in the Boots retail network and has reviewed more than 800 ideas. These numbers are set to increase rapidly as the Centre builds relationships with universities, companies and entrepreneurs both in the UK and internationally.
