Anixter Components announces new range of Rite-LokTM adhesives
Anixter Components has announced the addition of 3M’s popular Rite-LokTM
adhesives to its 2008/09 catalogue. The new range includes Rite-LokTM cyanoacrylate
and anaerobic adhesives, which are fast, easy to use, and form strong bonds
to secure components firmly in place. With 56 different formulations, there
is a product to suit nearly any job, including the bonding of metal, plastic,
wood, ceramic, rubber and composite materials, even in harsh environments
which are traditionally difficult for adhesives to cure in.
Rite-LokTM cyanoacrylates are solvent-free adhesives with high-tensile and
shear strengths that can be applied easily using manual or automated equipment.
There are 30 formulations of cyanoacrylates available which feature a wide
range of characteristics. These include having a superior resistance to
impact and vibration, and being able to withstand high temperatures and
humidities. Used in component assembly, maintenance and repair, and when
used in conjunction with the Rite-LokTM Primer, the adhesives give a high
performance on difficult-to-bond substrates such as polyethylene and polypropylene.
The low blooming formulations offer a high finish for cosmetically-critical
applications.
Rite-LokTM anaerobic adhesives are a range of 26 formulations of high-performance
engineering adhesives that cure in the absence of air and in the presence
of metal parts. These can be used in a variety of applications: as threadlockers
to minimise vibrations and loosening between metal threads; as retaining
compounds to increase the load-bearing stress of cylindrical joints; as
gasket makers to eliminate pre-cut gaskets and improve seals and strength;
and as pipe sealants to eliminate the need for PTFE tapes and dopes.
“Frequently used by OEMs in the assembly process, the adhesives offer
a quick and reliable method of fixing components together,” says Andrew
Fletcher, Technical Director, Anixter Components. “The adhesives are
a single part and customers are able to save time and cost associated with
traditional mechanical methods of securing, for example using threaded fasteners,
clips or rivets. Both adhesives are available in a range of strengths and
viscosities to suit all our customers’ needs.”
These new additions to Anixter Components’ adhesives range complement
the existing fixing solutions offered, such as the wide selection of commercial
and industrial tapes. Anixter Components 2008/2009 catalogue is now available
from its website at www.anixtercomponents.com.
