Case Study – Mesophotonics
Communication of a complex technical message – from niche market to a wider audience
Mesophotonics is a technology start-up responsible for Klarite - the new substrate that provides a unique solution for surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). The technology has the potential to revolutionise this branch of analytical chemistry.
Freshwater Technology was tasked with communicating Mesophotonics’ complex technology messages via the media to existing Raman users and beyond, into the wider scientific community.
Response:
Messages were developed for each audience and key technical and commercial spokespeople put through media training. Technical papers, case studies and product announcements were carefully targeted at a range of different journals and web sites. Piggybacking off national news stories provided the news hooks for coverage in the popular science press.
Results:
The work with Mesophotonics resulted in wide coverage in titles including Microscopy & Analysis, Laboratory News, New Scientist and Scientist Live.com and a significant rise in the traffic on the Mesophotonics web site.
